Meet the Icons of Modern Art

Meet the Icons of Modern Art is a long-running campaign for the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam that showcases the museum’s arrangement of their permanent collection, Stedelijk Base. The unconventional angular architecture by Rem Koolhaas that houses the collection was the inspiration for a series of graphic walls that play with the perspective of the viewer.

The bold graphic language of the campaign, loosely inspired on the Stedelijk collection’s works of Ellsworth Kelly, threw the works of artists including Haring, Koons and Picasso – and the museum’s existing graphic identity – into a new, dynamic perspective.

Over the course of two years the campaign has had numerous iterations, including various posters, animations and a wholecar running the streets of Amsterdam.
